Welcome to Parent Zone!
The Drop-in for families & carers of children with special needs
Parent Zone is the new drop-in located at the Cornerstone cafe,
run by
Pinpoint parent network and the Community Coaching Cafe. We launched in
January 2011
and heard from parents of children with special needs, that they are
so exhausted struggling to get the best services for their families that
socialising becomes a distant memory! Parent Zone is a chill-out space giving
parents a place to share information and ideas, get updates about essential
services, learn relaxation techniques and make new friends over a coffee.
Some sessions have featured special themes, such as a skincare papmering
morning (with samples courtesy of Boots in the High Street!). We've also been
very fortunate to welcome experts Elisa Ferriggi from Think Autism
and Sandy Kennedy from Child Whispering.
Future sessions
coming up are:
- Monday 19th and 26th September, 1.30-3: Want to be confident at SEN assessments & reviews?
Join our FREE Parental Confidence course. (Places are limited to 10 on each week)
- Monday 10th October: watch this space!
Parent Zone launch: Lynn Powell, Pinpoint parent network (front),
with Katy & Thozi from Hunts Mind, deputy Mayor Cllr Alan Cummings, Christine, and
Community Cafe Listeners Gillian and Kate.
Parent Zone is about sharing experiences and giving support by parents
to parents. It is not a paid for 'service' run by a service provider.
We meet on the 2nd Monday of the month at the Cornerstone Cafe (the former
sports shop), on the corner of Cambridge Street and Huntingdon Street.
Contact Christine
or call 0845 582 6224. Our Community Cafe's Listeners team will also be on
hand for anyone to needs 1-to-1 support. Low cost classes and workshops on a
range of subjects from mood management to mediation will also be available to
those that want them.
