Julia Hayward MSc MMath MIAP AMIMA: Webmistress
My part in the Cafe - at least at the moment - is looking after this website,
promoting the Cafe electronically, and bringing in people through my various
contacts as a councillor. By day I'm a senior software developer at
Onalytica,
and have been working with the Web for many years now - almost as many as it's been with
us! Before that I was a research assistant and part-time tutor in maths at Cambridge.

From 2009 to 2011 I was Leader of St Neots Town Council, representing
Eaton Socon; arising from that I've become a trustee of three local charities, and
with a full-time student
partner studying economics and three teenage children as well there's never a
dull moment for me!
I was delighted to get involved with the Cafe - as someone involved
in the life of St Neots in many ways, it's another way in which we can make a real
difference to people's lives, empower them to make the most of their potential,
and strengthen the community that I love. It also naturally appeals to
my more academic side as a wonderful opportunity for lifelong learning -
I've always had a passion for close, informal, personal development and
believe very strongly that it's a two-way process - confirmed by the
experience of our first volunteers, who have found that they grow as much
through the mentoring process as the people they are mentoring. As soon
as time allows I shall be on one of the mentoring courses for myself!
