Cafe Blog May 2011: Our first year
It's been just over a year now and we have produced our first
Annual Report. It's always
good to remind ourselves just how far we have come and where we're going!
We wanted to create a community coaching project to for St Neots and its villages.
We actually attracted 20+ volunteers who trained with us to become our Cafe Listeners team
providing face to face support to people who needed to talk.
We provided new advice line volunteers for the
St Neots Abuse Project's brand new young people's helpline.
We launched the Parent Zone, a monthly St Neots drop-in group for parents and
carers of children with special needs.
We ran 3 community art workshops - in the market square, at Loves Farm, and at Riverside Park.
But we finished with a small deficit!
This year, we will do more of the things that work, like offering more training at a variety of levels:
- for adults as volunteer Listeners and mentors to increase the numbers of people we can help.
- for our young people, we plan to create a youth mentoring forum offering training in volunteering and peer mentoring
wehre they can meet with other young people and adults from all backgrounds, cultures and experiences who can provide inspiration,
guidance and opportunities for personal growth and development.
